Google and Apple has removed Tik Tok from Google Play and App Store following the Govt order. It’s being reported that Apple and Google have been asked to remove the app from the App Store and Play Store respectively.

A search for video sharing platform TikTok on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store did not show the app. The government, on Monday, had asked tech giants Google and Apple to comply with the Madras High Court’s order that had banned popular mobile app TikTok, according to sources.

The order, however, will not impact the existing users who have already downloaded the app, however it only stops further download.

TikTok owner Bytedance has to appear for another court hearing on April 24 and the company’s spokesperson has said that the ban is temporary.

The app, which lets users create short, fun videos, has come under fire for allegedly allowing ‘pornographic’ and ‘sleazy’ content to propagate, especially among its younger audience. It’s also been alleged, in several countries no less, that the app is proving to be a fertile hunting ground for paedophiles.
